Why this site exists.
I write about retirement money, stocks and funds you can sell, private funds you cannot, options on stock you already own, and life, disability, and annuities. People kept asking the same things. What they found was a sales page or a wall of jargon.
I want you to finish a piece and have a better question for whoever already handles your money. I stay at the documents you sign and I show the math. I do not wrap it in a conclusion I have not earned.

I work in the Houston area as a portfolio manager. This site is my writing. It is not Verus Financial Group. Reading it does not make you a client.
I interned at MassMutual in Houston in 2014 and joined full-time in 2015. I started at Verus in 2019. More than ten years in the business. AIF®, CDAA, BBA in Finance. The registration and the insurance license are public.
I write about insurance because a lot of the policies I see are written wrong. Wrong amount, wrong definition of disabled, an illustration treated like a promise.
I am Lao-American and grew up in Michigan. I live in the Houston area with my wife and our two daughters, plus two dogs and two cats. I support Avondale House and the Ronald McDonald House, and I train as a powerlifter.
Where I am registered, and how to check it.
I work in the Houston area as an investment adviser representative and I hold a Texas life insurance license. Nothing on this site is an offer of advisory services.
Quote and apply on the Insurance page is the exception: that tool prices coverage through BackNine. I may be paid if you buy. Everything else here is writing.
Not a Verus Financial Group website. My own writing, published in my own name.
No model portfolios, no fund names, no claims about what I would buy.
No performance record, no assets under management, no client counts, no testimonials.
No calendar on this site.
